Following two postponements, TAG delivered what was possibly the most anticipated CampusLink conference yet!
Amid new lockdowns and restrictions to travel, the conference was finally held on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th of June this year.
The revised TWO-day format saw 135 delegates attend in person, with others attending via online streaming and Zoom for the first time! Together, they all helped make it the tremendous event that it was and showed that as a sector, we can rise above, share, and celebrate!
*A huge thanks to Jess Brown and her talented team at Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild who hosted the event, and for whom no request was too difficult! Their commitment to fulfilling all of our needs was a very large part of the conference's success.
Lots of photos of the conference are available on the TAG Facebook page,

THE PROGRAM - This year's CampusLink program content was selected to assist in a positive recovery from the challenges we've all faced, and empower our progress forward.
Nam Baldwin kicked us off with his "Calm Amongst the Chaos" session, setting the standard for the rest of the conference. Ray Collins closed the event with a quietly inspirational account of overcoming the real challenges of his childhood to become one of the world's foremost ocean photographers. Moving with the flow and colour of his amazing photography projected behind him, Ray's introspective delivery showed that there are life challenges that we all face and that if we follow our hearts, we can overcome them and succeed.
In between the two, the program featured a fantastic line-up of sessions and presenters;18 to be exact in this year's shortened program.
SESSION RECORDINGS - Financial members of TAG can access video recordings of the plenaries and keynote sessions HERE.
CampusLink programs always include keynote presentations, group workshops, plenary sessions, and peer-led discussions on many relevant topics, ensuring TAG Members and guests are engaged with the latest information and ideas around student engagement and campus services.
Our 2021 program was revised to include topics pertinent to the experiences we have all faced during these unprecedented times.

2021 CAMPUSLINK AWARDS GALA DINNER - A wonderful evening was had by all, at our fantastic gala evening at The Island Glasshouse. Hosted by the inimitable Alistair Cowie as MC, it was a time to acknowledge the best in campus services with the presentation of the 2021 CampusLink Awards, and finished with dancing once the formalities were completed.
Hearty congratulations to all the winners and highly commended submissions of the 2021 CampusLink Awards, 20 awards across 15 categories in total, presented on the night.
We celebrated the fantastic work carried out by our members in a very difficult year. The standout of the evening was the presentation of the Georgeson-Torney Award to the very deserving Hugh Gordon, who for more than 30 years has brought the student experience to life at the University of Newcastle!

DID YOU HERE THE LATEST NEWS???
The Gala dinner also featured the unveiling of TAG's new organisational name and logo...Student Experience Network! The new name is self-explanatory and clearly states what the network of members we represent does best.
Designing the new logo was opened to members, with the winning design created by the team at Arc Creative. It cleverly retains elements of our old identity and reframes them in a way that best illustrates our purpose moving forward. Our new name will be phased in over the next few months.

TRADE FAIR - The Trade Fair was held on the afternoon of the 23rd June in the Functions Centre and UniBar of Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild. We were happy that the overwhelming majority of 2020's postponed Trade Fair exhibitors were fully committed to the 2021 event. There were almost 40 exhibitors in total - smaller than previous years due to venue size and COVID restrictions, but all the buzzier for it. Lots of new products, fun, and sampling were eagerly enjoyed by all attending delegates.
NETWORKING AND CONNECTING WITH PEERS - TAG as an organisation strongly believes in community building on our campuses, and throughout our profession. We do our best to keep members connected and feeling supported. Key benefits of the annual CampusLink Conference are connecting with national colleagues and peers who all work as professionals in our sector, meeting with new and existing suppliers, and engaging firsthand with presenters.
The conference program was structured to provide dedicated networking events and multiple opportunities to strengthen these connections:
Pre-Conference Social Evening at Top Golf - 60 delegates kicked off the conference early with a fun night at Top Golf. Lots of pent-up frustration from the last 18 months was evidently unleashed on those golf balls during the evening, in between lots of laughs and catching up with colleagues from around the country after such a long break.
Communities of Interest Sundowner - Directly after the Trade Fair, delegates gathered on the Deck to kick back with a Mojo Kombucha cocktail and finger food while sharing ideas with peers from the various TAG Communities of Interest: Management; Activities & Communications; Clubs, Sports & Volunteering; Commercial Services.
A last but big thank you...to the fantastic "TAG Team" for all the hard work in helping to pull this great event together, and for their commitment throughout the year! We would also like to thank our members for their continued support of TAG in these challenging times.
We eagerly look forward to maintaining the warm connections made and continuing the important conversations raised over the months ahead.
