Another Benefits Partner Application

Yianni's Catering, the TAG Benefits Partner opertaing ion a large number of Sydney TAFE campuses has lost the following sites:

Granville

Macquarie Fields

Campbelltown

Miller

Bankstown

Liverpool

Padstow

Wetherill Park

These sites are now being operated E & H Hanna Catering (who also operate the catering at Wagga Wagga TAFE).

Hanna Catering has expressed interest in a Benefits Partner Agreement, and has been approved by the TAG Board.

Members now have a two week period in which to comment.

Bar Manager Vacancy at Monash Student Association

Monash Student Association has a vacancy for a Bar and Events Manager at the Clayton Campus.

The position has major responsibility for the management and operation of Sir Johns Bar, a burger bar with a strongtime trade and a healthy night time events trade. The position will also provide advice to student departments and staff of the MSA on student events.

Another University Moves to Ban Bottled Water

As of 21 February 2012, it will no longer be possible to sell or purchase water in plastic bottles at the University of Melbourne's Parkville campus. Named the Go Tap campaign, this ban includes all businesses, vending and private and public events.

It what is beginning to become a concerning trend, it appears that Universities are following this path without due consideration of all factors such as health considerations, student choice and alternative options.

TAG is currently working with Ogilvy Earth, an arm of Australia's leading PR and communications practice to develop a strategy to assist in addressing this issue as it quickly grows on campuses.

New Benefits Partner Application

The TAG Board has approved The University of Sydney Union's request to sponsor Sydney University Sport & Fitness (SUSF) as a TAG Benefits Partner.

USU has worked with SUSF to deliver TAG contract benefits for SUSF's Grandstand Bar for a number of years, and now wishes for it to continue under a BPA arrangement.

Members now have two weeks in which to comment.

Accommodation Services Vacancies at University of Newcastle

TUU Lose Commercial Operations

Tasmania University Union Catering and Retail operations have been transferred to the control of Scholarest, while their Housing operations have been transferred to the University of Tasmania.

Both changes took effect 01/01/12.

That link will take you to a page that will list the various suppliers endorsed by TAG in each category. Each supplier on that list will have a link to information regarding their products, and associate pricing and offers.

We urge you to consider the endorsed suppliers in every instance that you require pricing on the products from the categories represented. There will be up to three endorsed suppliers for each of the categories so that you can source competetive quotes from each if necessary.

The TAG endorsement is designed to give you peace of mind in that each of the endorsed suppliers has a relationship with TAG, and that they understand the complex needs of TAG Members. They also understand the potential value that TAG represents to them, and are aware that there will be, in most instances, an endorsed competitor against which they may have to prove themselves. Leveraging the TAG Campus Barista of the Year Competition

You may find the attached debrief from UQ Union interesting, as it quantifies the value of the TAG Campus Barista of the Year campaign undertaken on their St Lucia campus after the final heats held at CampusLink 2012 on the Gold Coast.

The UQU entrant's success in the competition was leveraged to increase the profile of their premium cafe on campus. The campaign successfully encouraged customers who usually purchased elsewhere to try the coffee at Darwin's, resulting in an overall increase of 10% in sales.

UQU's analysis and excellent result should have you thinking of how best to use the TAG Campus Barista competition to the best of your advantage in 2012.

AACA Administrative Role Moving to TAG Office

Earlier this year, the ACUMA administrative role was moved to the TAG office as a means of reducing costs and providing adequate support.

We are pleased to announce that an MOU has been agreed upon with AACA to provide similar administartive support. Once again the commonality of membership of our organisations make this a logical and strategic move, as well as serving to ease the personnel pressures faced by volunteer organisations such as AACA.

The support will cover all aspects of administrative support including membership maintenance, accounts and archival storage
