The TAG Campus Barista of the Year Competition
The 2012 TAG Campus Barista of the Year Competition has come to and end, with the winner being decided in September at CampusLink 2012, our industry conference and trade fair.
Internal heats were held on campuses across the country, with state heats contested at the end of August. The state winners were flown to Adelaide to contest the finals, which was proudly supported by our coffee partner, Grinders Coffee, and Lion Dairy & Drink.
The national final was contested by baristas representing the folowing TAG Member organisations:
- Flinders One
- UQ Union
- Arc@UNSW
- and the defending titleholder, CrystalDempsey of the uwsconnect.
After a fun but challenging three hours, with coffee after coffee being presented to the panel of judges led by Peter Kotoulas of Grinders Coffee, the winner was finally announced from the very closely-scored field.
Congratulations to Crystal Dempsey of uwsconnect, who once again took out the TAG Campus Barista of the Year title and proved that coffee on campus in this country can match the best on offer anywhere. Crystal's prize was the TAG Campus Barista trophy and a $500 cash prize..
